Position Responsibilities:

As the Business Development Manager, you will focus on new business development to help the company develop new accounts in retail channels that could include drug, grocery, office, and party supply channels.  Use your retail account/category sales experience to direct the company as to what is needed to grow those markets. 

  • Develops and calls on new prospective accounts (medium and large accounts)
  • Generates new revenue opportunities for new accounts, and new and existing channels.
  • Develops an annual sales plan, sales projections/forecast and identifies and develops new prospective accounts and new market channel opportunities
  • Provides input to the VP of Sales that includes pricing, discounts, promotions, advertising, tradeshows, internet, competition, industry trends, new products and other related sales and marketing efforts
  • Prepares annual sales budget, monitoring sales expenses and projects
  • Monitors sales revenues and incorporates adjustments to forecast and annual sales plan as appropriate
  • Provides input and overall expertise to various departments regarding: Product Development, Marketing, Manufacturing, Creative Services and others as appropriate

Experience Required:
  • 3 to 5 years of sales experience growing new business and working with large retailers and various channels.
  • Must have strong sales reporting, financial, and budgeting skills.
  • Must possess a background of developing effective sales campaigns, successful promotions, and overall success reaching and exceeding sales goals and revenue projections.
  • Must possess a successful background meeting with prospective accounts, developing proposals, negotiating contracts and successfully landing, maintaining, and keeping large accounts
  • Experience managing multi-channel strategies and campaigns is a plus.
  • Outstanding people management, leadership, and developmental skills.
  • Ability to establish clear objectives, processes, and goals.
  • Excellent public speaking skills including the ability to make value-added presentations to customers and partners.
  • Able to travel 30% - 40% or as necessary to grow the business.
  • High levels of energy, persistence, and personal integrity. 
  • Retail Industry experience (prefer Grocery, Drug, Office Products)
  • Past history of profitable sales growth
  • College degree preferred but not mandatory
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
