The Channel Marketing Manager will drive profitable growth by acting as the marketing/business lead for the development and execution of business plans for the T. Marzetti Foodservice National Accounts commercial restaurant segment. Working with a general management mindset, the primary responsibilities of this role are to identify growth opportunities in the channel and develop key segment/customer strategies and supporting new product initiatives that drive financial objectives. This role requires the ability to manage and lead a team, drive proactive & customer-driven innovation/renovation and fostering collaboration with various cross-functional teams within the organization. Includes the ownership and management of the business plan, demand plans, pricing, and P&L.


  • Establish and provide guidance to business cases, project prioritization, financial feasibility, pricing / P&L development, and launch plans.
  • Manage national account new product development initiatives by developing and supporting customer-centric solutions that balance customer/consumer desirability with business viability and feasibility.
  • Act as the business lead in partnership with various cross functional teams including Sales, Finance, Demand Planning, Insights, R&D, PCM’s, and Supply Chain and other groups within the organization.
  • Track, analyze, and communicate product and customer performance.  Recommend action plans to address variances in performance against annual plan.  Establish necessary reporting templates and baseline reports across Foodservice marketing/sales segments.
  • Lead and manage custom business Customer Specialist team through the Stage Gate process.
  • Serve as the marketing lead for the business to oversee and support proactive and customer-driven product innovation/renovation from concept to commercialization.
  • Support monthly Integrated Business Planning (IBP)/Stage Gate process by working with Finance and Demand Planning to prepare monthly customer and SKU-level demand plans with accompanying key drivers & assumptions.
  • Formalize, manage and lead ongoing portfolio management including SKU optimization & rationalization, pricing analysis/recommendations, and cost savings initiatives. Establish a semi-annual cadence of pricing action.
  • Prepare and analyze channel & category trends and business performance utilizing internal and external data sources (Supply Track, NPD Crest, Datassentials SNAP, etc.).  Apply insights to business recommendations and plans.  Drive annual situation assessment and planning of business priorities and accompanying AOP.
  • Identify new business opportunities by leveraging consumer & customer insights, market trends, product trends, competitive insights, syndicated & custom research.  Apply insights and co-develop targeted selling propositions and go-to-market strategies in support of new sales/business development.   Ensure and foster proactive customer innovation.
  • Assist sales team’s efforts in customer plan development and prioritization.  Identify channel and customer targets that can deliver the greatest business results; provide actionable insights in support strategic selling.
  • Engage with strategic customers to drive division initiatives.

Experience Required:


  • BA/BS degree in Marketing or Business Administration. An advanced degree or MBA is preferred
  • 10 plus years of business experience in marketing, brand or category management, business development, large account sales preferably in the foodservice industry
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to understand and apply business fundamentals, turn insights into action plans, and influence the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, understand and synthesize consumer, customer and category insights, and apply to the businesses needs
  • Strong financial and business acumen, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently, set business objectives, and make decisions
  • Project management skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask against several complex projects at a time
  • Strong verbal and communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and cross functional partners to achieve business objectives
  • Experience and exposure to the Stage Gate process preferred
  • Large account, or customer sales experience preferred
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office programs and website portal
